Sitting the Swiss Federal Matura in Zurich
Left school, failed, dropped out, or simply never got round to it: most people who start with us have a first attempt behind them. The Swiss Federal Matura still opens every Swiss university and the ETH, and you sit the same examination as at a state grammar school. Four models, so that this time it fits your life.
Four routes to the same examination.
The qualification is always the same. What differs is the pace and how much time you spend in the building.

No longer sixteen?
Anyone in work who takes the Matura later has different questions from a school leaver. We have answered them on a separate page.
Lecture, practice, consolidation.
We do not teach in school periods, we teach the way a university does. Theory in the lecture hall, application in small groups. Anyone who works like that for a year knows how university works before arriving there.
Lessons are recorded and stay available until the end of the contract term. If you were ill, you catch up. If you did not follow the material the first time, you watch it a second and a third time. For many people that is exactly why it works this time.
The examination subjects
Basic examination and supplementary examination under the rules of the Swiss Federal Maturity Commission.
Who can take the Matura with us.
Entry from age 16. You turn 18 in the year of the second part of the examination.
What we put in writing.

The federal authorities administer the examination
The Swiss Federal Maturity Commission and SERI, not Academic Gateway. The certificate entitles you to study at every Swiss university and at the ETH.
90 to 95 per cent pass
Of the students we admit and who see the route through, 90 to 95 per cent pass the examination.

All teachers →Two mock examinations
Past papers under real conditions, marked, with feedback and a study plan for the exam period.
Worth knowing: recognition, examination and choosing a model
What the Swiss Federal Matura certificate is worth
The Swiss Federal Matura examination has equal standing with the grammar school Matura. The certificate entitles you to study at every Swiss university and at the ETH. The certificate does not state where you prepared, it states that you passed the federal examination.
How the examination works
The examination is organised by the federal authorities and taken in two parts. We prepare you with the complete syllabus, past papers from previous years and mock examinations. The official guidelines and pass requirements are available under Downloads and documents.
Which model fits your life
The qualification is the same in every model, the calendar is not. Full-time in one year is the fastest route and requires five free days a week. Two years full-time gives more time per subject. Part-time suits you if you work during the day. Matura Flex suits you if you have time during the day but not five full days. Im Self-study you set the pace yourself. If you are unsure, the guide takes you to the right model in two questions, and all prices are set out openly on the fees page.
What people ask us most often.
Is this realistic for me, even if my school years were a long time ago?
Is the Swiss Federal Matura worth the same as the grammar school one?
I have gaps in mathematics. Can I close them before the course starts or alongside it?
What applies if I have to withdraw early? Is there a notice period or a penalty?
Talk first, decide afterwards.
In the consultation we look together at where you stand, which programme is realistic and how the financing can work. Around 30 minutes, no obligation, with the school management. You leave with a clear assessment, even if that assessment is that another route suits you better.
