Mission

What this school stands for

A mission statement is quickly written and rarely read. We have cut ours down to six statements that actually matter day to day.

Everyone deserves a shot at higher education

Our intensive programmes are built for people who want direct access to Swiss higher education and did not get it by the usual route. The reason interests us less than the question of whether it is possible now.

Teaching as at a university

Lecture and practice session are separate. That is not an organisational matter but a deliberate choice. Anyone who ends up at a university after graduating will already know this format. The lecture delivers the theory, the practice group deepens it, the e-learning makes both repeatable.

As equals

We treat our students as adults, the younger ones included. Already in the consultation the school management talks about strengths, weaknesses and personal circumstances. Anyone who wants to involve their parents involves them. Anyone who does not, does not have to.

A charter of tolerance

Every person has the right to be respected in their manner and their thinking. Our classes are more mixed than at most schools. People who dropped out of secondary school sit next to working professionals in their mid-thirties and next to immigrants who learned German first.

Independence as the goal

A one-year Matura only works if someone learns to steer for themselves. We do not do anyone’s work for them, but we do not leave anyone alone with it either. That is the narrow ridge this school stands on.

Digital, without the ideology

We committed early to combining on-site and online. But we do not claim a screen replaces the room. Former students rate the on-site teaching higher than the online part, and we take that seriously.

The teaching approach

Three stages, every day

Stage 1

Lecture

The theory, daily, in the lecture hall at Löwenstrasse 17.

Stage 2

Practice

Going deeper in small groups. This is where you work through problems, ask questions and get corrections.

Stage 3

Consolidation

Independent work in the e-learning platform, from anywhere. Every lecture available as a recording.
