The IB Diploma Programme in Zurich
The IB Diploma is the internationally recognised qualification for university entry worldwide. Two years, taught and examined in English, in the centre of Zurich. Academic Gateway is an IB World School authorised by the International Baccalaureate.
Six subjects, three core elements.
The IB Diploma Programme covers six subject groups and the three core elements: Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service. It is deliberately broader than a national school-leaving qualification and builds the ability to put knowledge in context and to work independently.

An authorised IB World School.
Academic Gateway is an IB World School authorised by the International Baccalaureate to offer the IB Diploma Programme. The authorisation has been in place since 2 June 2025. We are listed in the official IB school directory under school code 063039.
The authorisation confirms that the school meets the standards set by the International Baccalaureate. What that means for planning your studies, we go through with you in the consultation.
What we put in writing.
Separate conditions apply to the IB, among them an attendance rate of 90%. We set out the details in our terms and go through them with you beforehand.
The IB organisation sets and marks the exams
The International Baccalaureate Organization, not Academic Gateway. The diploma is recognised by universities worldwide. Swiss universities apply additional conditions depending on your subject choice.
Honest rather than estimated
We do not yet have our own pass rate for the IB, the programme is too young. So we do not quote one.
