Matura, BMS and Passerelle by self-study

«I learn everything on my own. I would like to have someone I could contact with questions.» That is what a prospective student in her third apprenticeship year wrote to us. This model is built for exactly that: complete video lessons, all the study material, and a fixed weekly appointment with a teacher. From CHF 9’500, start any time, alongside a workload of 80 or 100 per cent.

The most common objection

«And if I do not understand something, who do I ask?»

That is the sentence that puts most people off self-study. It is a fair point, which is why we answer it first.

1
Recorded lessonsThe lectures from the on-site programme are recorded and stay available until the end of the contract term. You watch them as often as you need.
2
E-learning accessCourse materials, model answers, past papers and short explanatory videos, plus Office 365.
3
Weekly online office hourA fixed weekly appointment with a teacher. For everything that stays open when you study on your own.
4
Mock examinationPast papers under real conditions, marked and with feedback. You know where you stand before the federal examination.

Is this right for me?

The model works well if you can structure yourself and keep to a fixed weekly rhythm. It works badly if you need structure imposed from outside.

Which applies in your case, we tell you honestly in the consultation. If on-site teaching is the better route, that is what we recommend.

What is guaranteed

What we put in writing.

The free repeat does not apply to self-study

The free repeat requires 95% physical attendance. That cannot be met in self-study, so it does not apply here. Settle this with us before you sign.

We put the details in writing before you sign.

The federal authorities administer the examination

The Swiss Federal Maturity Commission and SERI, not Academic Gateway. The certificate entitles you to study at every Swiss university and at the ETH.

Figures honestly attributed

We have no separate pass rate for self-study. The 90 to 95 per cent refers to the supervised Matura programmes.

Experienced teachers

More than 20 highly qualified teachers, most of them with university teaching experience.

Two full mock examinations

Frequently asked

Self-study, most common questions.

I study on my own. What if I have questions and cannot work them out myself?
That is exactly what the weekly online office hour is for: a fixed appointment with a teacher, every week. Plus model answers to every exercise and past papers. You study alone, but you are not on your own.
Is this possible entirely online, in the evenings or at weekends, alongside a full-time job?
In the at-your-own-pace model, yes. You receive the complete recorded lessons from the on-site programme, all course materials and a fixed online office hour every week. When you study is up to you. Alongside a full-time job it is demanding, but it is possible, and we tell you honestly in the consultation what we consider realistic at your workload.
Can I still apply for the coming school year, and by when?
For programmes with a fixed semester start we accept applications until shortly before the course begins, as long as places remain. The at-your-own-pace models start at any time. We tell you the current situation in the consultation, that is the most common question in July and August.
